Oriel is a New York-based filmmaker, photographer and producer. His work has been published on Time Magazine, Huffington Post, Resource and Nowness. Oriel was born and raised in the city of Jerusalem. He moved to New York after to study method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, where he started writing and producing short films. In 2008 he established the boutique production company Showreels, and worked on castings for A&E, MTV, Bravo, Lifetime and TLC.
In 2012 he became the first resident filmmaker of the world-renowned dance company Pilobolus. He toured with the dancers and documented their travels across the globe.
In 2016 he started production on his debut documentary "Project Peppermint" about Rupaul's Drag Race Season 9 contestant, Miss Peppermint. The film features Laverne Cox ("Orange is The New Black"), Trace Lysette ("Transparent") Bob The Drag Queen and others. The film is set to be finished in 2019.
